The thousand cranes from Hostel AKARI on Nagasaki Peace Day 2009

AKARI thousand cranes project
Travellers from all over the world who stayed at Nagasaki International Hostel AKARIhave folded a thousand origami cranes praying for lasting world peace.
Total of 1080 cranes were made by the travellers since December last year.
When we hold these cranes in our hand, we feel that everyone's wish has come together regardless of nationalities or races.
This is the 64th year after the atomic bomb has dropped at Nagasaki and Hiroshima.
We have donated these thousand cranes to the Peace park where the Peace memorial ceremony is held on this day of 9th Aug, praying for the souls of the victims of the atomic bomb and with our wish for world peace.

あかり千羽鶴プロジェクト
長崎インターナショナルホステルあかりに宿泊した世界各国の旅人達がそれぞれの思いで鶴を折り千羽鶴という形で平和への願いを残してくれました。
昨年12月から今年8月9日までに宿泊したゲスト達が折った鶴は計1080羽。
集まった千羽鶴を抱えてみると、それぞれの思いが人種や国境の壁を越え、繋がったような気持ちになりました。
原子爆弾が長崎と広島に投下されて今年で64年。
64年前のこの日に原子爆弾で亡くなった多くの命の冥福を祈り、今なお苦しむ多くの人々の平安を願い、
この千羽鶴を平和祈念式典の行われる平和公園に寄贈致しました。
