AKARI's wish for peace, Thousand cranes project
This is the 4th Summer since we have opened International Hostel AKARI in Nagasaki.
It's been 66years since the atomic bombs were dropped at Hiroshima and Nagasaki,
and this year will be the one to stay in our memory for a long time.
The Great East Japan Earthquake claimed many lives and tsunami engulfed homes on the coast.
Many people are still suffering.
Fukushima Nuclear Crisis made us, Japanese, and mankind to think over what we have learned from Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Hostel AKARI continues our project to offer the cranes folded by the world travelers at the Peace Park.
Each traveler has put their heart into folding cranes in silence.
We hereby report that today in Nagasaki we have donated these cranes to the Peace Park on behalf of all the travelers who visited AKARI.

AKARI's wish for peace 千羽鶴プロジェクト
私達がインターナショナルホステルを長崎にオープンし4回目の夏がやってきました。
広島・長崎への原爆投下から66年。
今年は日本にとって特別な年になってしまいました。
東日本の震災ではたくさんの人が亡くなり津波により町も住居もなくなりました。
いまなお多くの人々が痛みに耐え生活を続けています。
そして福島の原発事故。日本と私達を含む日本人、そして人類は広島・長崎から何を学んできたのだろうか、と考える毎日です。
ホステルあかりでは、長崎を訪れる国内外のゲスト達の思いを折り鶴として残すという企画を続けています。
思い思いに鶴を折ったゲスト達に向け、残されたメールアドレスを通じ、今日8月9日の様子を報告したいと思います。
ゲストそれぞれが「折り鶴」に込めた無言のメッセージ。
この折り鶴をゲストに代り平和祈念式典の行われる長崎平和公園に寄贈いたします。
